Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

Months away from opening a second continuing education building, the organization known as WVC has a new name: Viticus Group.
The rebranding was announced at the 92nd annual WVC veterinary conference, which wrapped up Feb. 19 in Las Vegas. WVC will still be used to identify the conference and veterinary education, including year-round Academy courses.
The name change comes as Viticus Group prepares to expand its continuing education offerings in both veterinary and human medicine. About an equal number of people — 26,000 veterinary professionals and 27,000 human medicine doctors — have been taught over the past 10 years.
“Though we have a new face and a new name, our commitment to supporting veterinary and human health professionals by providing them access to affordable, advanced continuing education with cutting-edge technology in state-of-the-art facilities remains the same,” said Andrea Davis, CEO of Viticus Group.
The organization’s current CE headquarters, the 11-year-old, 70,000-square-foot Oquendo Center, will be paired this summer with a nearby building of similar size known as the Eastern Campus. The Oquendo Center, just to the east of McCarran International Airport, has a new name, too: the Oquendo Campus.
The origin of the name Viticus is Latin, a mashing of “vita” for “life” and “medicus” for “doctor.”
