Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

Southern Veterinary Partners’ speedy growth paid off with two accolades in August.
First, the company, which operates 59 hospitals in 10 states, was named a Top Tiger by Auburn University. The award recognizes fast-growing companies led by Auburn alumni — in this case, CEO Jay Price, DVM; chief medical officer Jeff Falone, DVM; and regional medical director Chase Whitworth, DVM.
Later, the Birmingham, Alabama, company earned a ranking of 235 on the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing U.S. companies. The list included big-name companies such as Zappos and Oracle.
“The growth has been our plan and vision from the start, but to see it succeed renders me awestruck,” Dr. Price said. “I attribute our trajectory to an exceptionally strong team led by our officers Bryan Wetta, Barron Lakeman, Dr. Jeff Falone and Jeff Wilson executing on guidance from our talented executive advisory board.”
Southern Veterinary Partners started in 2014 with three hospitals in Alabama.
The business strategy is to purchase existing hospitals but allow the clinics to keep their names, staff and culture. The company provides support in the areas of marketing, human resources, finance, and inventory and purchasing.
