The SediVue Dx urine sediment analyzer is designed to deliver results in about three minutes.
IDEXX Laboratories Inc. is launching enhancements to three point-of-care analyzers and the company’s Web PACS cloud-based diagnostic imaging software.
“These updates target important medical conditions [and] were influenced by customer input,” said Jay Mazelsky, IDEXX’s president and CEO.
Among the highlights:
- The SediVue Dx urine sediment analyzer will feature advanced bacteria detection. “The latest artificial intelligence-based neural network software update will enhance the SediVue Dx analyzer’s bacteria identification capabilities,” IDEXX reported. “And a new proprietary reagent leveraging patent-pending technology will modify a sample and remove clutter from crowded images, enabling veterinarians to obtain conclusive bacteria results with each SediVue Dx run, even in the most clinically challenging samples.” Customers will begin to receive the update in March.
- A bile acids test is a new diagnostic for the Catalyst Dx and Catalyst One chemistry analyzers. The test “provides veterinarians a convenient indicator of liver function with the accuracy and range of the reference laboratory and real-time results to help them plan appropriate next steps for their patients,” IDEXX stated. A phased global launch will see the bile acids test being shipped to customers in North America and select European countries in March.
- A cloud-based software update coming to the Web PACS diagnostic imaging platform will use artificial intelligence to “automatically correct image orientation and sort images by body part,” the company reported. “This innovation will be available to customers by the end of the first quarter,” IDEXX stated.
