Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

Essentials PetCare has opened its sixth walk-in clinic inside a Walmart store.
The company, co-founded by veterinarian Douglas Spiker, DVM, was established in 2015 to provide wellness exams, vaccines and laboratory tests for cats and dogs and to treat minor illnesses. Many services are bundled, such as with the $175 puppy package, which includes an exam, vaccines, microchipping and three nail trims.
Patients needing a higher level of veterinary care are referred to full-service hospitals.
The newest clinic is located in the Atlanta suburb of Dallas and is open seven days a week.
Essentials PetCare operates four clinics inside Texas Walmart stores and is working to open five more in the Lone Star State. The sixth clinic is in Port Richey, Florida.
