Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

Merck Animal Health, Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets and Zoetis Inc. are teaming up again to encourage veterinarians and clients to screen cats and dogs for diabetes.
The annual Diabetes Pet Care Alliance program, started in 2014, offers three free products to the owners of newly diagnosed diabetes patients. Nearly 900 pets were diagnosed during the 2018 program.
To participate, veterinary clinics need to register by Oct. 31, 2019, at usa.petdiabetesmonth.com. Pet owners are eligible to receive a free product kit if a diabetes diagnosis is made between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31.
The kit includes:
- An AlphaTRAK 2 blood glucose monitoring system from Zoetis.
- A 6-pound bag of Veterinary Diets DM Dietetic Management Feline Formula or Veterinary Diets EN Gastroenteric Fiber Balance Dry Formula from Purina.
- A 10 mL vial of Vetsulin (porcine insulin zinc suspension) from Merck Animal Health.
November is Pet Diabetes Month.
