Blue Buffalo Co. has launched wet diets formulated to manage adverse food reactions in dogs and cats, complementing the kibble variety of Blue Natural Veterinary Diet HF Hydrolyzed for Food Intolerance.
The Wilton, Connecticut, company also added a wet option to Veterinary Diet NP Novel Protein Alligator for dogs.
The therapeutic formulas are available exclusively through veterinarians.
“With the launch of … HF and NP wet formulas, Blue Buffalo is providing veterinarians with efficacious nutritional solutions to help manage adverse food reactions while meeting the needs of their clients,” said Victoria Carmella, DVM, director of veterinary services.
The first ingredient in the HF diets is salmon hydrolysate, which Blue Buffalo describes as “a protein source that is produced when fresh salmon goes through natural enzymatic hydrolysis, concentrated and then dried at a low temperature.”
“This process makes the protein source highly digestible and reduces the average Dalton (protein size) to 2,000 for sensitive pets.”
NP Novel Protein Alligator is formulated to nutritionally manage inflammatory skin and GI diseases, the company stated.
Blue Buffalo’s other veterinary-exclusive therapeutic diets are GI Gastrointestinal Support for dogs and cats, WU Weight Management and Urinary Care for dogs and cats, KS Kidney Support for dogs, and KM Kidney and Mobility Support for cats.
