Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

Colorado State University infectious diseases Professor Michael Lappin has taken over as chairman of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association’s One Health Committee, the organization announced Nov. 20.
Dr. Lappin, DVM, Ph.D., DACVIM, directs the Center for Companion Animal Studies in the CSU veterinary college’s department of clinical sciences.
“Mike Lappin has been an active member of the [committee] since its early days and has an international reputation for his work on zoonotic infectious diseases,” said outgoing inaugural chairman Michael Day, BVSc, DECVP, Ph.D.
The assignment is a good fit, Dr. Lappin said.
“One Health has been my major career interest since completing my Ph.D. studying feline toxoplasmosis,” he said.
“We have a range of activities planned for 2018, including the launch of an online modular continuing education program in One Health for WSAVA members.”
The World Small Animal Veterinary Association represents more than 200,000 veterinarians through 105 member associations.
