The World Small Animal Veterinary Association has promoted its manager, Arpita Bhose, to the position of chief executive officer.
As WSAVA’s first CEO, Bhose will:
- Work with president-elect Shane Ryan, BVSc, MVS, CVA, MChiroSc, to strengthen communication between WSAVA and its 105 member associations.
- Seek out additional sponsorship revenue.
- Support the development of WSAVA global guidelines in areas such as vaccination, nutrition and pain management.
- Help develop more educational resources for veterinarians.
“2018 is shaping up to be one of our most ambitious years to date with further new members joining us and a range of new initiatives underway,” said WSAVA President Walt Ingwersen, DVM, DVSc, DACVIM. “As we continue to grow, a strong operational team to oversee the day-to-day running of the association is essential, both to support our members and to enable members of our executive board to focus on their areas of responsibility.”
Bhose joined WSAVA in 2015. She previously served as membership manager at the Royal College of Physicians in London and as manager of a number of Asia-Pacific medical societies.
“I look forward to building on our successes, and with the insight of our members, eagerly anticipate implementing the changes necessary to support our rapid growth,” she said.
In another appointment, Emma van Rooijen was named administrative assistant to Bhose and the executive board.
WSAVA represents more than 200,000 veterinarians worldwide through its member associations.
