Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

The Veterinary Hospital Managers Association will kick off a sold-out annual meeting and conference Sept. 28 in New Orleans.
Certified veterinary practice managers can earn up to 13.5 continuing education hours during the three-day event, which will be held at the downtown New Orleans Marriott.
Four educational tracks have been scheduled, including one that will examine:
- “Hiring, Firing and Everything in Between” and “Current and Looming Changes in Workplace Law,” presented by Brooke Duncan III, JD.
- “Mindful Management: Stress Less and Inspire More,” presented by Brenda Cassava, CVPM, CVJ.
- “Suicide Prevention and Awareness: We Need to Talk,” presented by Brandon Hess, CVPM, CCFP.
Roundtable discussions are set for Sept. 28, 29 and 30.
Off-site activities open to the approximately 450 attendees will include a tour of Magazine Street Animal Clinic and a Garden District walking tour.
The conference will conclude Sept. 30 with software user-group sessions and addresses by Michael Dicks, Ph.D., on “Economics of the Veterinary Profession: Connecting the Dots” and Brian Cassel, DVM, on “Consolidation Landscape, Driving Innovation and Business Agility.”
