Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

The home-delivery service Vetsource will make compounded medications available to veterinarians and their clients through Wedgewood Pharmacy, the companies announced.
Under the partnership, Portland, Oregon-based Vetsource will manage orders for customized drugs and forward them to Wedgewood for preparation and shipping. Veterinarians can submit and review orders through Vetsource’s ScriptRight ePrescribing tool, and pet owners can use a practice’s online store to request refills.
Wedgewood, headquartered in Swedesboro, New Jersey, produces thousands of different customized medications for pets and horses as well as people.
“Our partnership with Vetsource allows veterinarians to access our extensive formulary of high-quality compounded preparations [and] we receive those prescription orders directly into our system for preparation, quality control and shipment,” said Marcy A. Bliss, Wedgewood’s president and CEO.
The service is expected to start by late spring.
Vetsource stocks and ships prescription medications, pet food and health care products on behalf of veterinary practices.
