Purina and Senior Dog Veterinary Society Partner to Advance Senior Dog Nutrition
Purina has partnered with the Senior Dog Veterinary Society (SDVS) to help veterinary professionals address the unique needs of aging dogs. Recognizing the growing senior dog population, the collaboration promotes proactive, individualized care. Purina will provide SDVS members with educational tools, including RACE-approved webinars backed by board-certified nutritionists, to equip veterinary teams with strategies that support healthy canine aging.
University of Glasgow Pioneers Canine Bee and Wasp Venom Immunotherapy
The University of Glasgow’s Small Animal Hospital is the first U.K. facility to offer Hymenoptera Venom Immunotherapy (VIT) for dogs with severe bee and wasp sting allergies. Led by Professor Ana Rostaher, this treatment gradually introduces controlled venom doses to build immune tolerance and prevent life-threatening anaphylaxis. Originally developed for humans, the therapy provides lasting protection for highly allergic pets.
Purina Launches FortiFlora Diarrhea Response Kit
Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Supplements has introduced the FortiFlora Diarrhea Response Kit, a two-step probiotic system for managing occasional acute diarrhea in dogs and cats. Promoting antibiotic stewardship, the kit features short-term response stick packs with kaolin and pectin to quickly firm stools. Pets then transition to standard FortiFlora sachets, using the Enterococcus lactis SF68 probiotic to support ongoing microbiome balance and immune health.
National Dog Show Tickets on Sale
The Kennel Club of Philadelphia will host the 25th annual National Dog Show on November 14 and 15 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. This unique, benched event features thousands of canine competitors across hundreds of breeds, alongside agility demonstrations and therapy dog meet-and-greets. Tickets are now available online, and Saturday’s primary competition will broadcast nationwide on NBC on Thanksgiving Day.
