Felixvet has announced the commercial availability of two injectables approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Dexmedetomidine Hydrochloride Sterile Injectable Solution is FDA-approved for sedation, analgesia, and preanesthetic use in dogs and cats. Atipamezole Hydrochloride Injection is indicated for reversing dexmedetomidine and medetomidine effects in dogs.
Darwin’s Ark Opens Data to Researchers
Darwin’s Ark, a nonprofit community science initiative, has announced that it is inviting researchers to access its data and tools. The organization has enrolled over 25,000 cats and 50,000 dogs, and it has collected 6,000 DNA sequences and 6 million survey responses. MiDOG Animal Diagnostics has launched MiDOG Parasite-Only Testing, described as the first dedicated next-generation-sequencing-based parasite detection test for veterinary medicine. According to the company, the test draws on more than 4,300 parasite and protozoan reference genomes and targets complex cases, including tick-borne pathogens and exotic, zoo, and wildlife medicine.

Merck Animal Health has announced that Exzolt is now available to treat northern fowl mites in laying hens and replacement chickens in backyard settings. Administered via drinking water in two doses seven days apart, the product reportedly demonstrated 99.9% effectiveness in studies, with zero-day egg withdrawal and an 11-day meat withdrawal period.
