Hill’s Pet Nutrition has announced the launch of Science Diet Single Protein Dog Food Rolls, marking the brand’s entry into the fresh, refrigerated dog food category. The steam-cooked, single-protein recipes — available in chicken and brown rice, beef and carrot, and lamb and pumpkin — are formulated for digestibility, skin and coat health, and overall nutrition, according to the company. The rolls will be available at pet specialty retailers and can be fed as a complete diet, topper, or mix-in.
The Bridge Club Opens 2027 ICON Award Nominations
The Bridge Club has opened nominations for its 2027 ICON Award, marking the first time the award will recognize a certified veterinary practice manager. The ICON Award spotlights a different area of veterinary impact each year. For 2027, it will honor a CVPM who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in practice management, team development, and workplace culture. Data Show Canine Osteosarcoma Immunotherapy Doubled Survival Rates
OS Animal Health has announced the peer-reviewed publication of Phase 2 clinical trial data for OST-HER2, an immunotherapy combined with palliative radiation for canine osteosarcoma. Dogs receiving the treatment showed a 20% two-year survival rate compared to 1% in the control group. The company plans to seek a meeting with the U.S. Department of Agriculture this year to advance toward conditional approval.
Jaguar Health Seeks FDA Approval for Canine Chemo-Related Diarrhea Drug
Jaguar Health has completed its application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Veterinary Medicine for full approval of crofelemer (Canalevia-CA1) for chemotherapy-induced diarrhea in dogs. The drug is currently conditionally approved for the indication. According to the company, an effectiveness study found that treated dogs reached normal stool scores within three days, and 77% of owners rated the treatment effective. No FDA-approved drug currently exists for non-infectious diarrhea in dogs.
Pet Insurance Reaches 7.6 Million North American Pets
Nearly 7.6 million pets are now insured across North America, reflecting a 9% year-over-year increase in the U.S. and 3.9% in Canada, according to the North American Pet Health Insurance Association’s 2026 State of the Industry Report. Despite the growth, just 4.27% of U.S. pets are covered. The most common claims involve everyday conditions, including gastrointestinal issues, ear infections, and skin problems.
Felixvet Expands Meloxicam Suspension Line for Dogs
Felixvet has expanded its FDA-approved Meloxicam Oral Suspension portfolio with a xylitol-free formulation now available in four bottle sizes: 10, 32, 100, and 200 milliliters. The prescription NSAID, indicated for pain and inflammation associated with canine osteoarthritis, was originally approved in December 2025. According to the company, the expanded sizing aims to accommodate varying practice needs and patient sizes, with an included dosing system to support accurate measurement in small dogs.

Survey Reveals 91% of Pet Owners Would Go Into Debt for Their Pet
A survey of 2,000 U.S. pet owners by Lovet Pet Health Care found that while 91% would take on debt to save a pet’s life, 46% have delayed or skipped veterinary care in the past year due to cost. Cost was the most commonly cited barrier, followed by uncertainty about whether a visit was warranted. The report also found that 80% of pet owners research symptoms online before seeing a veterinarian, up from 75% in 2025.
