USDA Approves Lyme and Leptospirosis Vaccine
Elanco Animal Health has received USDA approval for TruCan Ultra Lyme-L4, the first 1/2 milliliter combination vaccine protecting dogs against Lyme disease and leptospirosis in a single dose. Featuring PureFil Technology to reduce reactions, the vaccine demonstrated 92.2% efficacy against natural infection in endemic areas, according to the company. It’s expected to ship within 30 days.
Hill’s Launches Two New Prescription Diets
Hill’s Pet Nutrition has introduced two new therapeutic diets — Prescription Diet k/d + Derm Complete for dogs and k/d Hydrolyzed for cats — designed to address kidney issues alongside skin or GI sensitivities. Both feature ActivBiome+ Kidney Defense, reduced phosphorus and sodium, and omega-3s. The products are available now in dry and wet formulations.
UC Davis First to Use Nano-Arthroscopy for Canine Jaw Joint Diagnosis
UC Davis’ veterinary hospital has become the first to clinically use nano-arthroscopy to diagnose temporomandibular joint disorders in dogs. Led by Dr. Boaz Arzi, the 1.9-millimeter scope allows direct visualization, inspection, and biopsy of joint tissue — capabilities CT and PET scans lack. According to UC Davis, the technique has revealed previously undocumented findings in four cases so far, including a case of immune-mediated TMJ arthritis.
CareCredit Now Accepted at Select Boarding and Grooming Facilities
Synchrony’s CareCredit has partnered with Pet Resort Hospitality Group, making the card accepted at 40 PRHG locations across 12 states for boarding, daycare, grooming, and training. According to PRHG, the organization served 71,000 pets in 2025. The partnership also supports Pet Resort University, PRHG’s staff education program.

Norbrook has launched Defendazole, the first FDA-approved generic white drench dewormer, bioequivalent to Safe-Guard oral suspension. It treats lungworms, stomach worms, and intestinal worms in beef and dairy cattle, plus select parasites in goats.

Westminster Kennel Club Names Veterinarian of the Year
The Westminster Kennel Club has named Dr. Wayne Boillat of Pacific, Missouri, its fifth annual Veterinarian of the Year, an award presented by Purina Pro Plan Veterinary. Selected from four regional finalists via public vote, Dr. Boillat practices at Pacific Animal Hospital with a focus on reproductive health. A $10,000 donation will be made in his name to the Pro Plan Veterinary Support Mission.
