VCA Animal Hospitals across parts of Texas and Louisiana are promoting free boarding services for the pets of Hurricane Harvey victims.
“Our thoughts are with the many families who are being impacted by this devastating hurricane and severe flooding,” said Art Antin, CEO of the Los Angeles-based VCA hospital chain. “We are extending free boarding for family pets that have been displaced so families can be assured their pets are safe and be able to focus on managing their priorities during this critical time.”
Limited boarding opportunities are available at three VCA hospitals in Houston as well as at selected locations in Dallas, San Antonio and New Orleans. More information is available through the American Red Cross or by calling 800-VCAPETS (822-7387).
VCA is helping in other ways as well:
- “We are working closely with local partners and organizations, including the SPCA of Texas, to make sure that the large number of affected pets have a safe place to go and to organize a disaster relief effort with VCA Charities,” said Brandon Antin, vice president of social responsibility and innovation.
- Through September, the company will redirect to hurricane-relief efforts any donations made as part of the Pennies for Pets program.
