Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

More than 975 veterinary hospitals spread across North America, South America and Japan. Some 4.2 million patients served. Over 5,000 veterinarians employed. About 15 million text messages exchanged with clients.
Those were some of the numbers revealed by VCA Inc. in its 2019 impact report.
“This report reflects the incredible commitment of people who help drive us to be the special and passionate organization we are,” said Todd Lavender, DVM, president of animal hospitals and pet care services. “In 2019, we provided care to 4.2 million pets, helped over 300,000 pets get adopted through our shelter program, provided over $1 million to pet-related organizations through VCA Charities, supported our communities during natural disasters, and so much more.”
Among other highlights in the second annual report:
- More than 30,000 associates, including 5,000 veterinarians, 600 specialists, 183 interns and 3,700 technicians.
- 35 Pet CancerCare Centers.
- 3 million canine and 1.12 million feline patients.
- 26,500 avian patients.
- 29 scholarship winners at the VMX conference.
- Nearly 3,000 leaves of absence allowed for associate health issues or to care for children, spouses or parents.
“This impact report genuinely showcases our love to pets, to the families that love them and to the communities where our lives come together,” said Brandon Antin, vice president of corporate affairs. “Our hospitals and associates are empowered to be a considerable force for good in the world. Everything we do comes from our desire to make pets lives healthier and happier.”
