The University of California, Davis, operates the nation’s best veterinary science program, according to Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings. The School of Veterinary Medicine received the top ranking for the fourth year in a row and was judged No. 2 worldwide, just behind the Royal Veterinary College at the University of London.
“The rankings shine a spotlight on UC Davis for its leadership in veterinary science and also demonstrate the excellent education and research the campus provides across the academic fields,” Chancellor Gary S. May said.

- Cornell University
- Colorado State University
- University of Pennsylvania
- Ohio State University
- Texas A&M University
- University of Minnesota
- University of Wisconsin
- Iowa State University
- North Carolina State University
Other U.S. institutions recognized globally for veterinary science include Cornell University (No. 3), Colorado State (No. 7), Pennsylvania (No. 9) and Ohio State University (No. 10).
This year’s QS World University Rankings were based on an independent comparative analysis.
“Our largest-ever subject rankings provide a deeper understanding of how global higher education excellence is achieved. Sustained targeted investment and international collaboration are key pillars upon which progress can be made,” said Ben Sowter, QS vice president. “In addition, improving relationships with industry correlates with better employment, research and innovation outcomes.”
