The Southern Veterinary Partners network has grown to 34 hospitals across the southeastern United States with the acquisition of two North Carolina clinics.

The newest locations, reported Oct. 19, are Wilkinson Animal Hospital in Gastonia and Charlotte Street Animal Hospital in Asheville.

Southern Veterinary Partners previously reached deals with two Montgomery, Alabama, clinics — Goodwin Animal Hospital and Taylor Crossing Animal Hospital — and with Barry Veterinary Hospital in Destin, Florida, and Soundside Animal Hospital in Navarre, Florida.

The Birmingham, Alabama, company’s business model is to purchase an existing hospital, keep the practicing veterinarians and staff, retain the hospital’s name and culture, and take over back-office responsibilities such as marketing, purchasing, human resources and finance.
