Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

Pride Veterinary Medical Community, an organization supporting LGBTQ+ students and professionals, is accepting applications for two new $4,000 awards and is taking nominations for its annual leadership award.
PrideVMC’s Diversity Bonus and Intersectionality awards, each sponsored by Merck Animal Health, will go to a veterinary or veterinary technician student. Details and applications, which are due March 31, are available at http://bit.ly/2ItaLrs and http://bit.ly/2PVjjvb, respectively.
The nomination deadline is April 30 for the PrideVMC LGBTQ+ Leadership Award, which will be given to “an individual who has been an ally or supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and has worked to fulfill the organization’s mission and vision.” More information is available at http://bit.ly/2TIhIKm.
PrideVMC also announced the winners of 2019 Dr. Michael McElvaine Veterinary Student Leadership Grants, which are sponsored by VCA Animal Hospitals, Zoetis Inc. and Hill’s Pet Nutrition.
Receiving $1,000 each to support events or projects were Broad Spectrum Veterinary Student Association chapters at Iowa State University, Mississippi State University, Ohio State University and Tufts University.
Juan S. Orjuela, an Ontario Veterinary College student and Broad Spectrum Veterinary Student Association representative, received $500.
