Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

Dogs enrolled in Petco’s new $19-a-month wellness plan will receive unlimited veterinary exams, nail trims and teeth brushings.
The program, Vital Care, is being rolled out at Vetco veterinary clinics inside 22 Petco stores and at Petco grooming salons nationwide. Cats qualify for unlimited veterinary exams.
Petco, which operates 100 onsite veterinary hospitals through corporate partners like Vetco, plans to add other clinics to the list of exam locations. The unlimited nail trims and teeth brushings will be performed at the grooming salons.
Pet owners who sign up for Vital Care will receive either a free bag of pet food or $25 off a vaccine as well as monthly savings opportunities under the PALS Rewards membership program.
“With Vital Care, we are offering critical, everyday services, from nail trims and teeth brushing to vet care, in a way that has never been done before, all in one accessible destination,” Petco CEO Ron Coughlin said.
Enrollment in Vital Care requires a 12-month commitment, or $228.
The participating Vetco clinics are in nine states: Arkansas, California, Florida, Kansas, Nevada, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas.
