Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

A South Florida veterinarian and a group of investors have launched the house-call service Fetch My Vet.
The $150 fee for a wellness or sick visit is higher than what most veterinary practices charge, but co-founder Michael Sanwald, DVM, said clients pay for the convenience and the undivided attention of a veterinary team.
“A Fetch My Vet appointment typically lasts about 45 minutes,” he said. “And each veterinarian is assisted by an experienced veterinary technician. That allows the doctor to spend quality time with the pet parent to offer health, nutritional and behavioral guidance.”
Vaccinations start at $25, and diagnostic tests range from a heartworm check for $45 to a comprehensive health panel for $275. Fetch My Vet also offers euthanasia and cremation services, issues travel certificates, implants microchips, and dispenses medications. An online store at www.FetchMyVet.com allows clients to order home delivery of drugs and therapeutic pet food.
Clients can schedule visits through the website or by telephone.
Fetch My Vet serves Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties. Dr. Sanwald, a former practitioner at Banfield Pet Hospital in Aurora, Ohio, said he and his backers hope to expand the business nationally at some point.
