The North American Veterinary Community, publisher of Today’s Veterinary Business, has been named one of Florida’s best companies to work for.
The annual Best Companies list is featured in the August 2018 issue of Florida Trend magazine. One hundred companies are ranked in small, medium and large employer categories.
To participate, companies or government entities had to employ at least 15 workers in Florida and have been in operation at least one year. Companies that chose to participate underwent an evaluation of their workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The process also included a survey to measure employee satisfaction. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.
“Employers we speak with talk a lot about how workplaces are changing and how young employees’ expectations are changing,” said Florida Trend’s executive editor, Mark Howard. “For the Best Companies issue this year, we spoke with new hires and got their perspectives on what attracted them to the companies where they now work and what they like best about their workplaces.
“One key concern that young workers talk about is whether the company seems to care about more than their academic record and technical qualifications.”
Florida Trend Publisher Andy Corty said the best companies provide strong pay and benefits to their employees and fun diversions.
“And these top companies encourage employees to participate in the organization’s overall success with training and open communications,” Corty said.
The NAVC’s CEO, Thomas M. Bohn, MBA, CAE, called the listing “an incredible honor.”
“We often hear from our employees that it’s the small things that keep them happy —the snacks and coffee in the breakroom, the employee appreciation events and the flexible hours, to name a few,” Bohn said. “Company culture is an area we focus a lot of energy on, and to be recognized for that is something we are very proud of.”
The Best Companies to Work for in Florida program was created by Florida Trend and Best Companies Group and is endorsed by the HR Florida State Council. Best Companies Group managed the registration, survey and analysis and determined the final rankings.
