Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

Regional distributor Northeast Veterinary Supply Co. (NEVSCO) has been sold to one of the industry’s largest wholesalers, MWI Animal Health.
Terms of the acquisition, announced Dec. 12, were not reported.
“At MWI, we’re focused on providing veterinary practices with the tools and resources they need to compete in a dynamic animal health marketplace,” said Mark Shaw, president of MWI. “The acquisition of NEVSCO is just another demonstration of this mission, and together we look forward to building on the value NEVSCO has provided to their customers.
“We want to combine the best of both organizations to create the most valuable distribution network serving companion animal veterinarians in the Northeast.”
The takeover came nearly three years after MWI itself was purchased by AmerisourceBergen in a $2.5 billion transaction.
NEVSCO, founded in 2004 and headquartered in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, notified customers of its acquisition last week.
“From your friends at NEVSCO, we are happy to announce that as of Friday, December 8, we are now a part of the MWI Animal Health family,” according to a statement on the NEVSCO website. “We look forward to speaking with you personally to share more about this exciting news.”
