Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

Dr. Andy Roark sure knows how to draw a crowd.
The popular speaker and media personality brought together nearly 2,000 people May 3 for the College of Veterinary Medicine Virtual Graduation, a bittersweet alternative to university commencements called off because of COVID-19.
Now, the South Carolina veterinarian will host a free online graduation ceremony Sunday, May 24 for veterinary technicians. Registration for the event, which is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. EDT, is available at https://bit.ly/3cdnM5r.
The earlier ceremony was viewed live by newly graduated veterinarians, family members and friends. Thousands more went online over the next 48 hours to witness the celebration and listen to an array of commencement speakers.
“Looking back, I was deeply impacted by the comments I saw during the live event,” Dr. Roark wrote in an invitation to anyone earning a degree in veterinary technology. “Parents were crying in pride, graduates were rejoicing together, and veterinarians were sharing their best advice for new doctors entering our profession. It was truly amazing.”
The veterinary technician ceremony will feature music, photos, commencement speakers and “an outpouring of encouragement and love,” Dr. Roark said.
