Thrive Affordable Vet Care is making veterinary care more affordable for people who adopt an animal from the online service Get Your Pet.
Adoption packages now include a free first exam at Thrive, which operates 50 clinics in 10 states.
“We hope this joint effort allows more pets to get the preventative care they need to ensure they stay healthy for years to come,” said Angela Marcus, co-founder of Get Your Pet.
Thrive, based in Austin, Texas, offers discounted members-only prices and walk-in rates. The Thrive Plus membership features unlimited pet exams, 10 percent off services, and 10 percent off dog grooming and training at Petco.
“Our partnership with Get Your Pet is another example of how our unique business model allows us to invest in the communities we serve so we can help more pets receive the care they need,” said Benjamin Trotter, Thrive’s vice president of marketing.
Get Your Pet provides what it calls “legally documented pet adoption” at $99 for a dog and $49 for a cat. Most adopters are eligible for 30 days’ free pet insurance from Trupanion, a $40 credit toward services on Rover.com and a free pet exam through other participating veterinarians.
A portion of the adoption profits benefit local animal shelters, the company reported.
