Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

Marty Becker, DVM, whose Fear Free program has taught tens of thousands of veterinary professionals how to improve a patient’s physical and emotional well-being in their practice, has co-authored a book intended to help dog owners satisfy their pets’ emotional needs at home.
“From Fearful to Fear Free: A Positive Program to Free Your Dog from Anxiety, Fears, and Phobias” explains how excessive barking, aggression, destructive behaviors and house-soiling can germinate from fear, anxiety and stress.
“This is also the source for deterioration of the human-animal bond and can make a trip to the veterinarian, pet groomer or boarding facility miserable for pet and owner alike,” stated the publisher, HCI Books. “Left untreated, these negative experiences can lead to devastating consequences and permanent damage.”
The other co-authors are:
- Lisa Radosta, DVM, DACVB, the owner of Florida Veterinary Behavior Service.
- Wailiani Sung, DVM, MS, Ph.D., DACVB, the owner of All Creatures Behavior Counseling in Kirkland, Washington.
- Certified behavior consultant Mikkel Becker, the lead trainer for FearFreePets.com.
The book is scheduled for release April 17.
