Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

Community Veterinary Partners (CVP) has grown to 31 hospitals with the purchase of Countryside Veterinary Hospital in Shelton, Connecticut.
CVP’s business model is to buy a large stake in a hospital and take over management of the practice, leaving the partner veterinarian to focus on patient care.
“It was essential for me to find a situation for our staff where they could continue to thrive and strengthen the culture that we had developed over the years,” said Countyside’s founder, Bruce Kerns, DVM, MS, DABVP, a 1987 graduate of the University of Illinois.
Countryside, an accredited practice through the American Animal Hospital Association, became the third CVP clinic in Connecticut. The others are Animal Hospital of Putnam in Putnam and Chippens Hill Veterinary Hospital in Bristol.
CVP, whose network stretches from Connecticut to Virginia, is headquartered in Philadelphia.
