PETMETRIX has released its Pet Medicine Home Delivery Report, 2026 Edition, making the market intelligence freely available to veterinary practice owners, managers, and industry professionals.
The report analyzes the competitive landscape of the pet prescription market between September 2024 and June 2026. It tracks several major industry developments that are shifting where pet owners purchase medications:
- Tractor Supply’s acquisitions of Allivet and VIP Petcare
- Amazon’s pet Rx launch with Vetsource
- Chewy’s acquisition of Modern Animal
- Walmart’s addition of pet services
- Midwest Veterinary Supply’s acquisition of Victor Medical Company
- The proposed merger of MWI Animal Health and Covetrus
“Considered together, [these changes] make up the most significant 22-month stretch of new competition in pet Rx that I have seen since Chewy launched its Autoship program,” said Richard Hayworth, founder and CEO of PETMETRIX.
According to the company, the report aims to help clinics understand shopping preferences so they can better retain pharmacy revenue as corporate competition intensifies. To highlight this operational urgency, the release cited industry data noting that while the veterinary channel still controls 70% of the estimated $12.97 billion U.S. pet medication market, product-only clinic visits dropped 6.2% in 2025, twice the 3.1% decline in total in-hospital visits.
The report is free to veterinary and animal health professionals as well as credentialed investors. Request the report at petmetrix.com.
