Antech has announced the publication of a new peer-reviewed study in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA) evaluating its Accuplex reference laboratory for canine tick-borne disease screening.
According to Antech, the study provided a direct performance comparison between Antech’s Accuplex and the IDEXX SNAP 4Dx Plus test. The research revealed the following clinical findings:
- Ehrlichia sensitivity: Accuplex identified 94% of Ehrlichia-positive samples (as determined by a reference standard), while the SNAP 4Dx Plus test identified 58%.
- Anaplasma sensitivity: Both diagnostics demonstrated comparable, high sensitivity (greater than 90%) for detecting Anaplasma species.
- Overall specificity: Both tests showed excellent specificity (greater than 95%), minimizing the risk of false-positive results.
Dr. Jimmy Barr, Antech’s chief medical officer, stated that as pathogens and their geographic reach evolve, “veterinarians need confidence that their screening tools are keeping pace.”
The research was co-authored by investigators from Colorado State University, the University of Texas Medical Branch, and Antech Diagnostics.
