Animal health data company The Bird Bath has launched “Terminal,” a searchable database and analytics platform covering nearly 37,000 U.S. veterinary practices and more than 80 enterprise groups. Users can filter by location or ownership, track acquisition targets, and access data on consolidation trends, EBITDA multiples, and technology adoption. Subscriptions start at $299 per month.
Westminster Opens Nominations for Vet of the Year
The Westminster Kennel Club has opened nominations for its 2026 Veterinarian of the Year Award, presented by Purina Pro Plan Veterinary. The call for nominations will be open from April 25 through May 21, 2026. Based on the nominations, four regional finalists will be selected, and fan voting for the finalists will take place June 7-10. The winner will receive a $10,000 donation in their name to a Pro Plan Veterinary Support Mission partner.
DogTV Airs Human-Animal Bond PSA
DogTV has announced that it is now streaming a public service announcement from the Human Animal Bond Research Institute’s “Real Reason for Pets” campaign, targeting the platform’s human audience. The national awareness campaign, backed by the American Pet Products Association and World Pet Association, highlights research showing that pet ownership reduces stress, eases loneliness, and lowers blood pressure.
Virbac Earns Human-Animal Bond Certification
Virbac Corporation has become Human-Animal Bond Certified through a program created by the North American Veterinary Community and the Human Animal Bond Research Institute, committing to staff training on the health benefits of pet ownership. Nearly 250 Virbac employees completed the course within the first 30 days. Since the program’s launch in 2018, more than 1,325 veterinary professionals have become Human-Animal Bond Certified.
Dr. Pol Launches Walmart-Exclusive Dog Food
TV veterinarian Dr. Jan Pol has introduced Dr. Pol Clinical Nutrition, a line of specialized dog food available without a prescription, exclusively at Walmart. According to Dr. Pol, the three formulas — weight management, food sensitivities, and gastrointestinal care — aim to offer an affordable alternative to prescription pet food.
Mixlab and Instinct Integrate Pharmacy Into PIMS Platform
Veterinary pharmacy Mixlab and practice management software Instinct have launched a native integration allowing clinicians to browse Mixlab’s catalog and submit prescriptions without leaving Instinct. Real-time status updates flow back into the platform from submission through fulfillment. The integration is now available to Instinct customers nationwide.
Zoetis Adds Reference Lab Parameters to Point-of-Care Hematology Analyzer
Zoetis has expanded its Vetscan Opticell hematology analyzer to include cellular hemoglobin concentration mean (CHCM) and plateletcrit (PCT), bringing the device’s total parameters to 24. CHCM, previously available only through reference labs, provides a direct optical measurement of hemoglobin concentration in red blood cells. Both parameters are expected to be available to current users later this year.
Antech Launches Scholarship for Aspiring Veterinary Professionals
Antech and Vet Set Go have launched the Antech Veterinary Futures Scholarship, an annual program awarding five students $1,000 each plus one-on-one mentorship with Antech veterinary leaders. Candidates log shadowing and volunteer hours through the Vet Volunteer app, with recipients selected based on engagement quality and reflections on clinical experience. Winners will be announced every two months beginning in August 2026.
