VMG Updates Chart of Accounts
Veterinary Management Groups, in collaboration with the American Animal Hospital Association, has released an updated veterinary chart of accounts designed to modernize financial reporting and improve practice benchmarking. The update reflects changes in veterinary services, revenue streams, and practice operations. Resources and implementation tools are available on the VMG website.
Dechra Establishes US Headquarters
Dechra has announced plans to relocate its global headquarters from Northwich, England, to Boston, Massachusetts. According to the company, the move positions its executive leadership and strategic operations “in one of the world’s premier innovation hubs.” As part of the transition, Dechra will consolidate its existing U.S. offices in Kansas City, Kansas, and Portland, Maine. The new headquarters is expected to open this summer.
Hill’s Releases Big Dog Report
Hill’s Pet Nutrition has released the 2026 State of the Shelter Pet Adoption Report. The report found that low pet owner confidence, the cost of food, and size-related concerns topped the list of factors negatively impacting large-dog adoption rates. Download the full report.
Pet King Brands and Shelters United Partner
Pet King Brands, the company behind enzymatic pet health care products Zymox and Oratene, has announced a partnership with Shelters United. The company will participate in Shelters United’s Veterinary Supplies Savings Program, which helps shelters and other animal welfare organizations save money on essential veterinary supplies needed to care for rescued pets.

MiDOG Expands Testing
MiDOG Animal Diagnostics has announced the launch of its enhanced Whole Genome Sequencing diagnostic service. The expanded test delivers species-level identification across bacteria, fungi, and parasites, while simultaneously detecting antimicrobial resistance genes and clinically relevant virulence factors. The test requires one sample, and results can be delivered in two days.
OpenVet Receives VANE Support
Members of the Veterinary Angel Network have invested in OpenVet, Inc., a company developing an AI-powered clinical intelligence platform — a virtual veterinary hospital — that delivers real-time, species-aware medical guidance for veterinarians. According to VANE CEO Dr. Natalie Marks, OpenVet is “making clinical knowledge more accessible, structured, and reliable at the point of care.”
CATalyst Council Identifies Gap in Feline Care and Revenue
CATalyst Council has released early findings from the “CATalyst 2026 State of the Cat Report.” The report has revealed opportunities for veterinary practices, with an estimated $34 billion in addressable annual revenue remaining uncaptured. The domestic cat population has been estimated at 76 million, and 90% of cat owners indicated that they have a very strong emotional bond with their cat. Learn more about the report’s findings.
