Application period opens for Henry Schein Cares Medal
Three winning organizations will be identified in January.
Veterinary products seller Henry Schein Inc. is looking for organizations that deserve special recognition for expanding access to health care to underserved and at-risk populations.
The third-annual Henry Schein Cares Medal will be presented next year to three finalists in the animal health category and in two other business sectors: oral health and human medicine.
Applications, due no later than Oct. 5, may be submitted at http://bit.ly/2in1uqK. The finalists will be announced in January 2018 and honored at Henry Schein national sales meetings in 2018.
The 2017 gold medal and $15,000 went to Guiding Eyes for the Blind of Yorktown Heights, New York. First Coast No More Homeless Pets of Jacksonville, Florida, received the silver medal and $10,000, while Animal Care Centers of NYC took home the bronze medal and $5,000. Each also was given $10,000 worth of products.
The Melville, N.Y., company’s charitable arm, the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, organizes the program.
“The positive impact each applicant has on its community should serve as an example for others to emulate, and strengthens Team Schein’s resolve to help health happen across the U.S. and around the world,” said Stanley M. Bergman, chairman and CEO of Henry Schein.
