AVMA hires digital expert as communications chief
John Eckroth moves over from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.
The American Veterinary Medical Association has dipped into human health care to find its new communications director.
John Eckroth last worked as director of digital experience and strategy at the Chicago-based Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. In nearby Schaumburg, Illinois, he will lead the AVMA’s internal and external communications and public relations efforts.
“John brings a strong background in digital strategy and communications, branding and identity, content strategy, digital asset management, and analytics, and we’re excited to see him leverage these strengths to benefit our members and the profession,” said Angela Roberts, the AVMA’s chief marketing and communications officer.
According to the AVMA, Eckroth “will be crafting a comprehensive communications strategy with an emphasis on digital strategy and intelligence that supports how the AVMA serves its members.”
Before his job with the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Eckroth was director of digital communications and infrastructure at the University of Chicago.
